The Adventures of Ajale and His Friends is a book that is centred on the life of a ten-year-old boy named Ajale and his three friends, Menyinge, Meniake and Wangtuge. It explores how the boys under the leadership of Ajale navigate life in their small remote village in the central part of Africa. Driven by Ajale’s curiosity and investigative instincts, the boys are determined to go the extra mile to unravel mysteries that beset their village which at times led them into dangerous situations. This includes solving the problem of theft in their village, rescuing Ajale’s cousin, Bahki, from an arranged marriage, and saving the Ewang dance group from a sabotage attack. This book provides a captivating and thrilling insight into the lives of the four boys.

Tell Me A Story, Grandad

I wrote Tell me a Story, Grandad as a result of telling a few stories to my grandchildren. They liked them and I enjoyed telling them, so writing the stories down in book form was a natural development. I also knew a talented artist who was interested in being involved in the project.

Tell me a Story, Grandad is a book based in present-day London. There are ten interconnected stories and characters, like ‘Bob’s House in the Clouds’ and ‘My Friend with No Name.’ All invite you to join them in a place somewhere between reality and the world of the imagination. Each story is illustrated by a picture with a specific colour and, like the stories, they are interlinked.           

The book is for children aged between four and eight, yet it is also for readers who are much older than this. I hope the book will be read not just by children, but by parents or grandparents as bedtime stories for their children or grandchildren. Hopefully, mums, dads, nans and grandads will add their own imagination and details so that each story becomes theirs as much as mine.

Teebu the Leopard

Strazz opened her mouth wide and tried to take a nip at Teebu but Teebu backed away only to bump into another hyena who also tried to take a nip but she quickly got out of the way. She was now surrounded by hyenas and they all tried to take a bite of her as their noisy howls went up in the air. The howls got louder and louder as they continued their attack on Teebu but she was quick and kept out of the circle that they had made around her and quickly fled from their midst.
